We let our butterflies go and set them off on a lovely sunny day, but not before we got to have a closer look!

Butterflies!!!

We're really excited about our beautiful butterflies. We have just given them some sugars and fruit peel to help they grow strong and healthy.

Did you know that when butterflies come out of their cocoons, there is some ink or dye that fall from their wings as they dry out. The dye can be red or bright orange but depends on the type of butterfly!!

We have learnt so many new interesting facts about butterflies!

Our butterflies have started to hatch from their cocoons!! Very exciting!!

Growing Butterflies and Life Cycles

Year 2 have been busy learning about life cycles and our environment as part of Eco week.
We have started to feed and grow some caterpillars... We can't wait to see how they develop!

But they are getting big!!!
